A big thank you to Laurie and Rory for including me in their wedding celebration this past weekend!  Such a lovely couple and lovely venue.  The event took place at The Mill in Cambridge Ontario.  The event went off without a hitch, they deseved the perfect day and got it!

I’m honoured to have been 1 of 3 Canadian cake designers to have chosen to create a 100th birthday cake for the Oreo Cookie.  Not only did I make the cake but, I was also a spokesperson for the event which was held at the Toronto Eaton Centre on March 6th.  The party was hosted by Colin Mochrie who introduced the secret musical guest, Julie Black (what an amazing voice…you would have to be there to believe me).  Countless fans showed up for Oreo’s and Natrel Milk, cupcakes, and to celebrate this milestone birthday.  The cake and I made appearances on Breakfast Television, CH Morning News and CTV Kitchener Noon News where I made the Oreo birthday cupcake (recipe can be found at www.kraftcanada.com).  I like to thank Kraft for such a huge opportunity and a big thank you to Bonnie Gordon for displaying the cake in her college window!!

I made a cake for the 2010 Canadian National Wedding Cake Competition at the Bakery Showcase and came in 2nd place.  Sadly, my cake was stolen from a fellow competitor.  The good news is that it was featured on Cake Central www.cakecentral.com as one of the top 5 cakes for 2010!!

Look out for this great new show this fall, called That’s Art?!  The show will be hosted by Bif Naked and will feature 3 artists per episode.  Only, these aren’t traditional artists that we would normally think of…they will feature a tattoo artist, graffiti artist and you guessed it…a cake artist WHICH WOULD BE ME!!!! I am so excited…I’ll post a link as soon as it’s available.

Keep an eye out for my wedding cake tutorial in an upcoming ICES magazine, where I will show you how to make an isometric dot template, a sugarpaste peony, how to work with cutters, and more.  I love this cake (which was inspired my a paper plate).
